Microsoft Security Essentials Beta-Phase

Microsoft starts the beta-phase for the new no-cost security-tool Security Essentials former codenamed Morro.

“Security Essentials is easy to install and easy to use. Updates and upgrades are automatic, so there’s no need to worry about having the latest protection. It’s easy to tell if you’re protected – when the Security Essentials icon is green, your status is good. It’s as simple as that,” says the official Microsoft website.

The Register writes, that there is a limitation of 75.000 beta-testers. The final version of the product is scheduled for September.

“Microsoft Security Essentials is more about protecting the image of Windows than anything,” Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos told El Reg.
